417 – RARE FRENCH CIRCA 1840 EXPERIMENTAL INFANTRY RIFLE WITH BAYONET:

In good attic condition. 17.5mm caliber. Good metal bearing a pleasing and smooth age patina throughout with some fine oxidation in areas. No visible markings but a Crown AP (or AF) stamped on lock plate. Good and unusual action that requires a trigger push forward to activate the bolt. Poor bore with visible rifling that might improve upon a vigorous cleaning. Good stock with numerous handling marks and a couple of minor stress cracks around the lock plate. Comes with its very good original socket bayonet. A truly rare and unusual experimental rifle that would be worth researching! Free shipping.
