821 – US MODEL 1872 CAVALRY OFFICER SWORD:
In very good original condition. 37 1/2 inch overall length. Fine brass hilt and scabbard mounts bearing a light age patina. Fine original grip retaining all of its original leather wrapping and wiring. Very good 32 ¼ inch blade with good McLilley maker ricasso markings and a nice etched blade décor on both sides. Some staining and very fine oxidation in areas. Blade and hilt are tight together. No nicks, dings… on the cutting edge. In its very good original brass mounted steel scabbard retaining a good amount of its original nickel finish mixed with an age patina. One small screw missing on the lower band. A classic US 19th Century sword! No reserve.
